Chief Petty Officer Smedley was a Royal Navy officer under Captain John Hart. He caught the Master stealing electronic components and asked to see his pass. The Master knocked him unconscious after failing to hypnotise him. (TV: The Sea Devils, PROSE: Doctor Who and the Sea-Devils)
