Lord Henry Palmerdale was a British financier in the early 20th century.
Biography[]
MP James Skinsale owed Palmerdale money, but Palmerdale cancelled the debt after Skinsale gave him valuable information Palmerdale could use on the stock exchange. Accompanied by his secretary Adelaide Lessage and Skinsale, Palmerdale was on his way to Southampton in his steam yacht to act on Skinsale's information, hoping to reach London before the exchange opened. However, the yacht crashed onto Fang Rock, with Palmerdale, Skinsale, Adelaide and bosun Harker the only survivors.
After they were rescued by Reuben and Vince Hawkins, they went to the lighthouse to warm up and settle for the night, but their plans were ruined when the Fourth Doctor revealed engineer Ben Travers had died that very night and the lighthouse was under attack by a Rutan. Desperate to get to London to act on his information from Skinsale, he bribed Vince to send a message to London on the telegraph. After bribing Vince, he stood on the outside of the lighthouse to avoid being seen by the Doctor, but was electrocuted and thrown off the lighthouse by the Rutan. Vince later burned the money Palmerdale had bribed him with. (TV: Horror of Fang Rock)
