In 1893, she and Edmund entered Sweetville to look for the Eleventh Doctor and Clara. Edmund went inside one of the rooms, warning Effie if he didn't come back in an hour to call the police. Immediately after, Mrs Gillyflower entered with a number of women all clad in demure black gowns with black bonnets. Mrs Gillyflower claimed to have come across Effie's "late husband". After saying Edmund was well, Effie heard him screaming in the other room. She looked back with concern at Mrs Gillyflower and was heard screaming when the other women advanced towards her.
