He argued with the Doctor criticising his ship, the Cerebos for it's shoddy works, and noticed the planet had shifted orbit. The Doctor convinced him to jettison the rear section to save up more fuel to land, which Epzo reluctantly conceded. The Doctor, Epzo and Yaz managed to crash-land on Desolation, and meet up with Graham, Ryan and Angstrom, making them the only two finalists. They met up with a hologram of the race master Ilin, who told them to cross the planet to the 'Ghost Monument', in order to win.

Epzo was a Muxteran pilot who participated in the final Rally of the Twelve Galaxies, in which he emerged as the joint winner alongside his Albarian opponent Angstrom. His ship was called the Cerebos, which he sacrificed to land safely on Desolation. He planned to smoke an Althusian cigar to celebrate his win, but sacrificed it to save himself, Angstrom and the others from the Remnants.

When he was four years old, Epzo's mother made him climb a tree and told him to jump from it, promising to catch him. However, she failed to do so, causing Epzo to be injured in the fall, teaching him not to trust anyone. (TV: The Ghost Monument)
