East End

The East End of London, also known as just the East End, was a district of London.

History[]

On 2 November, The Doctor's TARDIS materialised in what would one day be the East End, but at that time was unpopulated and located just outside of London. (PROSE: The Plotters [+]Gareth Roberts, Virgin Missing Adventures (Virgin Books, 1996).)

In 1888, Jack the Ripper murdered prostitutes in the East End. (PROSE: Matrix [+]Robert Perry and Mike Tucker, BBC Past Doctor Adventures (BBC Books, 1998).)

In February 1909, Bernice Summerfield investigated a series of murders in the East End. (PROSE: Birthright [+]Nigel Robinson, Virgin New Adventures (Virgin Books, 1993).)

In the 1940s, Jean and Phyllis were evacuated from the East End to Maiden's Point. (TV: The Curse of Fenric [+]Ian Briggs, Doctor Who season 26 (BBC1, 1989).)

In 1952, the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith visited the East End. (PROSE: Amorality Tale [+]David Bishop, BBC Past Doctor Adventures (BBC Books, 2002).)

Owen Harper originated from Plaistow, which was a district in the East End. (PROSE: Slow Decay [+]Andy Lane, BBC Torchwood novels (BBC Books, 2007).)

In 2015 a Hyperion spacecraft landed in the East End as the Hyperion invasion of Earth began. This caused a fire which destroyed a large portion of the area. Firefighters including Sam were sent to tackle the blaze, mistakenly believing it to have been caused by a plane crash. A stone house was built no later than in the 18th century in East End. At the beginning of the 21st century it belonged to Alice Parsons. In 2016, it became the focus of an investigation for the Coal Hill defenders. (PROSE: The Stone House [+]A.K. Benedict, BBC Class novels (2016).)
