Earl Baker was one of the deserters from the American Civil War who followed Lucius Casler in his attack on Charlotte and Samuel Elkins' home. When Charlotte's father, William Watkins, became suspicious of the men, Baker shot and killed him, only to be killed by Charlotte. (PROSE: Comforts of Home)
