E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was a multimedia franchise beginning with the 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The franchise primarily surrounds the titular extra-terrestrial, E.T., and later went on to be featured in the crossover video game LEGO Dimensions [+]Jon Burton, Graham Goring and James McLoughlin, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (2015)..

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial's few official crossovers with the Doctor Who universe occurred through LEGO Dimensions [+]Jon Burton, Graham Goring and James McLoughlin, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (2015). and its promotional material.
In LEGO Dimensions, both E.T. and Doctor Who are featured as franchises with their own worlds and vehicles/objects. This allowed Doctor Who characters to interact with E.T. elements, and allowed E.T. characters to interact with Doctor Who elements.
In the LEGO Dimensions trailer New Adventures Await! [+]LEGO Dimensions promotional material (2016)., released on 9 June 2016, E.T. makes an appearance on the back of Wyldstyle's motorcycle in Diagon Alley, and uses his powers of telekinesis to levitate the bike into the air, over Hogwarts and in front of the Moon, in much the same way as many promotional pieces for E.T. feature Elliott on his bike with E.T. in its basket. This trailer also includes the Twelfth Doctor as a character, although it features no direct interaction between its Doctor Who and E.T. elements.

As part of the Meet That Hero! series of LEGO webcasts, Supergirl Meets E.T. [+]James McLoughlin, Meet That Hero! (2016). was released on 14 September 2016 as the series' second instalment. This primarily featured Supergirl discussing similarities between her life and E.T.'s, as well as her interacting with E.T. and Wyldstyle. The introduction of the webcast also featured a direct reference to E.T.'s marketing material, with Supergirl riding her bike in front of the Moon. The webcast ended with E.T. using his "superpowers" to grow a Kryptonian singing flower for Supergirl, leading her to suggest the formation of an "alien club", after which the Twelfth Doctor makes a brief appearance, showing his support and waving towards his TARDIS, leading E.T. to respond only with "phoooonneee...".

The Decalog 3: Consequences short story Moving On [+]Peter Anghelides, Decalog 3: Consequences (Virgin Decalogs, 1996). revealed that E.T. was Sarah Jane Smith's favourite film. Later, Interference - Book One [+]Lawrence Miles, BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures (BBC Books, 1999). and Interference - Book Two [+]Lawrence Miles, BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures (BBC Books, 1999)., Doctor Who novels, featured further references to the series, revealing that Sarah Jane Smith cried at the film and owned an E.T. clock.
The Doctor Who Series 1 episode Aliens of London [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 1 (BBC One, 2005). featured a banner with the text "ELLO E.T." being hung up by members of the Powell Estate. This was either a reference to the series or a general reference to extraterrestrials.
The Doctor Who Series 3 episode Smith and Jones [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 3 (BBC One, 2007). featured the Tenth Doctor, posing as a human, asking if Royal Hope Hospital had an "E.T. department" after a Plasmavore revealed that she was an alien.
The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 3 episode Prisoner of the Judoon [+]Phil Ford, The Sarah Jane Adventures series 3 (BBC One, 2009). featured Androvax possessing a woman's body in 2009, with Clyde Langer trying to calm the woman's daughter by suggesting Androvax only wanted to use her to "phone home", a reference to the series.
The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 3 episode Mona Lisa's Revenge [+]Phil Ford, The Sarah Jane Adventures series 3 (BBC One, 2009). featured Clyde Langer mocking Rani Chandra's habit of believing aliens were behind unusual events in 2009, jokingly conjecturing that his bike had been stolen by "E.T. the ASBO".
The Main Range audio story The Curse of Davros [+]Jonathan Morris, Main Range (Big Finish Productions, 2012). claimed that Flip Jackson had seen E.T., and that her boyfriend, Jared Ramon, had not seen it all the way through.
