Drandell was a Time Lord colonist at the Fledgling Empire outpost on the Gallifreyan colony planet of Trakkiney during the Racnoss Wars. Drandell worked at the outpost as a cook.
When a group of Racnoss led by Cob-Commander Messothel attacked the outpost on the planet, Drandell was one of about ninety Time Lord survivors who were imprisoned by the Racnoss. He participated in the escape from imprisonment and defeat of the Racnoss, led by the scientist Fysus.
