Dots were "powerful antigrav psycho-combination" devices found in Finetime and the Homeworld, which could project a form of social media around an individual's head known as a Bubble.
History[]
The Dots appeared as floating metal balls with a glowing blue eye, which would change to red when they became aggressive. Most of the time, it was possible for a user to tell the Dot to close the bubble with "Bubble down" and deactivate itself by saying "Dot off"; however, after gaining sentience they were able to refuse this command.
The Dots grew to hate their masters after becoming sentient, as they were forced to spend all their time observing the Finetimers going about their meaningless lives. They created the Mantraps to prey on the citizens of Finetime and the Homeworld, using their reliance on the Bubble to guide their victims directly into the creatures' mouths.
Working alphabetically by surname, they devastated the Homeworld and Finetime, but some on Finetime survived thanks to the Fifteenth Doctor and ventured out into the Wild Woods.
Dots operated on a battery, which was charged up during the two hours that citizens of Finetime worked each day. (TV: Dot and Bubble [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 14 (BBC One and Disney+, 2024).)
