Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks, also called Doctor Who and the Dead Planet, was a book from the Doctor Who series. During the War in Heaven, it was also known by the redacted title Doctor ? in an Exciting Adventure with the Enemy.

History[]

After Iris Wildthyme gave the Eighth Doctor an old, yellowed paperback edition, he claimed that it contradicted a book written by Terrance Dicks. (PROSE: Bafflement and Devotion)

During War in Heaven, the book was illicitly shared by young Time Lord inductees on Gallifrey. As proper names were auto-edited out of all messages for war security purposes, the title was redacted to Doctor ? in an Exciting Adventure With the Enemy. One of Ostrev's earliest post-Loom memories was of sharing a downloaded underground copy of book with a gang of other inductees. (PROSE: The Taking of Planet 5)

Behind the scenes[]

Its alternate name, Doctor Who and the Dead Planet, was in reference to the name of the first episode of The Daleks.

In the story In Search of Doctor X, another in-universe analogue to Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks is seen, Doctor X in an Amazing Adventure in Space.
