- This annual shows more attention to the details of the TV series than previous editions. The Doctor is still referred to as Dr Who, but less frequently and not in all stories. He is also identified as a Time Lord from Gallifrey and uses his sonic screwdriver.
- Some illustrations are provided by Edgar Hodges.
- The photographic front cover uses two publicity shots of Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, the main image is from location filming for TV: Planet of the Daleks, the smaller (inset) from TV: The Sea Devils. The rear cover image of Jon Pertwee is also from TV: The Sea Devils.
- Oddly, two different stories with the same title, The Time Thief, appear in two consecutive annuals, the previous year's in comics form, this year's in prose form.
