Doctor Who was the name formerly[1][2] given to no. 221122[3] of Virgin Trains' British Rail Class 221 Super Voyagers[4] — as the entire fleet of locomotives were named after both real and fictitious voyagers[5][additional sources needed] — a class of modern DEMU-type passenger train. The train was manufactued by Bombardier Transportation between 2001 and 2002.[4]

However, prior to 3 March 2009, the fleet's identifying nameplates were removed from the locomotives and sold at a charity auction, with the Doctor Who nameplate selling for £2000.[2]

In 2008, model railway manufacturer Bachmann Branchline produced a OO scale (or 1:76 scale) model of the Doctor Who Super Voyager, complete as a five-car unit with lighting, however is it been out of production circa early 2010s.[1][3] Bachmann has also produced a police box in the same scale,[6] which resembles the First Doctor's TARDIS.
