The one-hundred-and-fifty-first instalment of Doctor Who? was printed in DWM 214 with a cover date of 6 July 1994.
Summary[]
The First Doctor and Susan test-run early developments of the ship that would become known as the TARDIS.
Characters[]
Worldbuilding[]
- The first development was the TARDIP - Time And Relative Dimensions In Porridge. After they have landed, Susan screams to the Doctor that they have landed on yet another porridge planet.
- The second development was the TARDITP - Time And Relative Dimensions in Tooth Paste. After they have been swarmed by the substance, Susan screams to the Doctor that he'll have no fillings this week.
- The third and final development was the TARDIDO - Time And Relative Dimensions in Daniel O'Donnel. The ship lands on his head whilst he is singing about the Mountains of Mourne.
Notes[]
- This story uses the word dimensions, as in plural, when referring to the various stages of TARDIS development. However, Susan used the word in the singular when the acronym was first stated in An Unearthly Child. The most recent mention of the acronym at the time of this story's publication favoured "dimensions", as stated by the Seventh Doctor in Delta and the Bannermen.
- This story was the cause of some confusion upon its reprinting in It's Even Bigger on the Inside. Although it was published in DWM 214, it was originally marked up by Dicky Howett for printing in DWM 215. This led to it being labelled as DWM 215's Doctor Who? story in It's Even Bigger on the Inside with the strip originally marked up for DWM 214 left to fill the void despite never actually having been printed within the pages of Doctor Who Magazine.
