The sixty-fourth instalment of Doctor Who? was printed in DWM 128 with a cover date of September 1987.
Summary[]
John Nathan-Turner is interviewed on why he thought Sylvester McCoy was the right man for the job.
Characters[]
Worldbuilding[]
- Nathan-Turner says he knew McCoy was the right man for the job when he saw him putting ferrets down his trousers. The interviewer doesn't think this is impressive, but Nathan-Turner elaborates by saying that they were cyber-ferrets.
- There is a picture of the Sixth Doctor with a cross over his face in Nathan-Turner's office.
Notes[]
- Fictionalised versions of John Nathan-Turner and Sylvester McCoy make appearances prior to the latter's debut as the Doctor here in a similar fashion to how a fictionalised version of Colin Baker appeared alongside JN-T in DWM 87's instalment. The Seventh Doctor proper made his debut in the Doctor Who? series in the next issue's instalment.
- This story accompanied a preview of McCoy's first story, Time and the Rani, in DWM 128.
- An annotation by Dicky Howett dates the production of this story to April 1987.
- On the wall of JN-T's office, there are pictures of those considered for the role of the Seventh Doctor besides McCoy. Candidates include individuals resembling Adolf Hitler and Sooty, as well as "No. 13" and "No. 33" from Enlightenment, a previous Quinn and Howett story.
