The Doctor attempts to get his Five Hundred Year Diary made into a Who book by Target.
The editor says five hundred years of diary entries like, "Got up. Went to work. Saved universe. Came home. Went to bed. Got up. Polished console. Watched telly. Saved universe. Fed the cat. Went to bed. Got up. Washed hair. Lost recorder. Found recorder. Met new companion. Saved universe again. Came home for tea", wasn't the sort of material they were looking for.
K9 is waiting outside the door of the editor's office.

This story marks the first appearance of the Second Doctor in the Doctor Who? series as the sole incarnation featured. He previously appeared in DWM 95's instalment.
This story also marked the first appearance of K9 in the series, apparently acting as companion to the Second Doctor, predating the incarnation he was initally introduced to, the Fourth Doctor in The Invisible Enemy.
