Derek Waring (26 April 1927-20 February 2007[1]) played Shardovan in the Doctor Who television story Castrovalva.

He is best known for playing Detective Inspector Goss in over two hundred episodes of police drama Z-Cars.
Personal life[]
His brother was actor George Waring, who played Arden in The Ice Warriors. Derek died on George's 82nd birthday[2].
