Sir Denis Nayland Smith was a character in Sax Rohmer's Fu Manchu stories. He was based on Sir Richard Carnac Temple.
In the story The Devil Doctor, Smith stole Fu Manchu's white peacock, which Manchu had received as a gift from a mysterious and important figure from China. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
