Deafness was the condition of lacking audio perception due to physiological or psychological factors. There were varying degrees of deafness, ranging from minor audio impairment to total loss of hearing.

Deafness in humans Edit

Richards was a deaf old man who was given the chance to hear again by a Harmonelid. (COMIC: Earworm)

In the 21st century, Rigsy had a deaf aunt named Karena. (TV: Flatline)

In 2119, Cass, second in command of the Drum, was deaf, and used her friend Tim Lunn to translate her sign language. (TV: Under the Lake)

Dot Smith-Smith, a colonist of Yemaya 4 in the 23rd century, was born deaf. Her parents refused to have her either healed medically or fitted with a hearing aid. (PROSE: Sleepy)

Deafness in other species Edit

The Masters of Dorada lost the organs for sight and hearing when they became disembodied brains, but could still sense others' thoughts. (PROSE: The Dream Masters)
