Dr. Daniel Matthews was a UNIT containment specialist who worked with Lockwood.
Biography[]
Matthews studied at a university, where he met Janice. He later went to work for a UNIT containment team under Lovkwood's management, were he and his colleague James Ramsay often found themselves needing to be saved by Lockwood.
In 1996, Matthews and the containment team responded to a quarantine order at the Warehouse after Dr. Sally Arnold had exposed a dormant Nestene pod to deep-space transmissions and reactivated it. Sally helped the team find a hidden room with more Nestene pods and Dr. John Smith's UHF transmitter from Black Thursday. Though the transmitter was useful in destroying the original pod, unsealing the doors allowed the reactivation of a second pod and also of the Autons still held in the warehouse. They injured Matthews. The second pod escaped through an air vent and evaded capture. (HOMEVID: Auton)
Matthews continued to work with Lockwood and Sally for some time. He tried to track down the missing alien, but about six months before the discovery of the creature on Sentinel Island, he had left the team to carry out archaeological research in Africa. (HOMEVID: Auton 2: Sentinel)
