Memories of Gallifrey - The Time Monster - Doctor Who - BBC

"The daisiest daisy I'd ever seen" (TV: The Time Monster)

A daisy was a plant which could be found planets such as Earth and Gallifrey. As the Third Doctor recounted to Jo Grant, the Hermit showed a youthful First Doctor what he called "the daisiest daisy I'd ever seen" to lift his spirits. The Doctor described how he saw it, through the Hermit's eyes:

"It was simply glowing with life, like a perfectly cut jewel. And the colours? Well, the colours were deeper and richer than you could possibly imagine."

Jo at first ridiculed his story, but as the Doctor's tale began to yield a much deeper and thought-provoking message under the surface, it soon calmed her down. (TV: The Time Monster)
