Bolshevik redirects here. While "bolshie" are the like are used as shorthand for communism, the Bolsheviks are established as their own group based in Russia and should receive their own page, acknowledging them as one of numerous Communist parties rather than treating them as synonymous with the whole ideology.

Communism filtered from the USSR into China prior to the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist Government successfully contained the communist movement in the mountains of north and central China. However, the family of Chiang's wife were communist sympathisers. In 1989, the Communist regimes in Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia were overthrown. In Czechoslovakia, it was known as the Velvet Revolution and took place on 28 November of that year.
