Micro Universe action figures were released by Character Options between November 2007 and September 2008. Rendered at an unusual 35mm scale, these unarticulated figures were actually game pieces. Similar to a card game like Battles in Time, the individual figures were all "rated" according to their obscurity, and each had specific abilities versus other figures.
Micro Universe figures were available in packs of three or seven figures, with the packs containing random pieces. Avid players of the game would therefore have to keep buying the packs in the hopes of finding that one truly obscure figure that would help them win the game. Ships were sold separately from character figures, however were bundled with an exclusive figure.
Gameplay[]
On the bottom of the base of each piece were four statistics: "Logic Rating", "Fear Factor", "Temporal (exposure to the time vortex)" and "Physical Ability". These were the basis of playing the game.
The rules of the game were fairly straightforward. When it was your turn, you'd choose a piece in your possession. Then you'd choose a piece in someone else's possession. Then you'd declare which of the three statistics was the basis of the contest. Finally, you'd spin the included "combat spinner" — which resembled the Tenth Doctor's TARDIS console — and add the resulting number to the statistic being compared. Your opponent would then also spin the combat spinner and apply that number to his or her statistic. The player with the highest total won the other player's piece, but the piece was retired from further play. The player who won the last available contest won the game.
