Channel 4

Channel 4 was a major broadcaster in the United Kingdom, but went out of business by the time of the series Surrender, Earthlings!. (PROSE: Not So Much a Programme, More a Way of Life)

Behind the scenes

Channel 4 broadcast Big Brother at the time of the broadcast of Bad Wolf, and gave the BBC permission to use their show in the episode. Channel 44000 is in reference to this channel. The diary room chair was subsequently given to Channel 4, and they reused it in Ultimate Big Brother.

It was also home to the original UK version of the LGBT drama Queer as Folk, Russell T Davies's award-winning series, which also has many references within to Doctor Who.

One Born Every Minute, a Channel 4 documentary series, crossed over with Call the Midwife and Doctor Who for a Comic Relief sketch entitled One Born Every Minute.

John Leeson's voice is recognisable as the continuity announcer on Channel 4.
