The Chancellor of Germany was the head of the German government.

During the Weimar elections of July and November 1932, Chancellor Papen was the incumbent. Various party campaigns attacked Papen for his failure to rebuilt the economy. In January 1933, Adolf Hitler of the Nazi Party succeeded Papen as Chancellor. At the end of World War II in Europe, before Hitler committed suicide on 30 April 1945, he named Admiral Donitz of the Kriegsmarine as his successor in his last Will and Political Testament.
