Cell Shock was a Doctor Who Adventures comic story featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond.

Summary[]

The TARDIS arrives on a planet where an artificial mountain range has been made, but while they are heading back to the TARDIS the ground gives way and the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond fall down a slope. They land in some sort of cell. They are not alone for the cell holds Elpha and her young cubs.

Elpha was captured by aliens who could not understand her, taken aboard a spaceship and brought to the cell. The regular meals they received at first have stopped. Beside robot guards who respond to any disturbance with a pacifying stick, no one else has been seen.

Using his sonic screwdriver to open the cell, the Doctor discovers that Elpha and many more are exhibits at a zoo that has been closed down and left on automatic. Finding his way to the control tower, the Doctor begins to shut the zoo down properly and deactivates the security robots, releasing all the caged species so they can take advantage of the planet's rich natural habitats.

The Doctor gives Elpha the choice to stay or return home. She decides she wants her cubs to taste the air on their homeworld and accepts the Doctor's offer to leave. She offers to help carry the Doctor and Amy back to the TARDIS.
