Carolyn McConnell was a human living in San Francisco. She met the Eighth Doctor and Sam Jones in 1976 when Carolyn was a pre-med student. After a vampire encounter, the Doctor gave Carolyn a hypercube to contact him if she had more problems with them. She did so in 1997, by which time she had become a medical researcher, as her partner James Court had been taken by the Vampires. She worked with the Doctor to create Vamp-Away, a solution which could kill the Vampires threatening the city. (PROSE: Vampire Science)
