Caroline Bell, also known as Carol, was a UNIT officer. She was a member of the Brigadier's personal support staff.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Lance Corporal Bell served as Colonel Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart's assistant at the London Regiment offices in Battersea during the clean-up in the wake of the London Event. (PROSE: The Forgotten Son) She was later promoted to Corporal. (PROSE: The Scales of Injustice)
UNIT career[]
Corporal Bell became one of the initial members of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart's personal staff following the formation of UNIT.
Bell performed surveillance at the town of Smallmarshes, where she saw a stealth aircraft land. She reported in to HQ that the Third Doctor, a Silurian, the missing boy Marc Marshall, and Sergeant Mike Yates had been taken aboard this craft. (PROSE: The Scales of Injustice)
Bell informed the Brigadier that Captain Chin Lee was on the phone. The Brigadier later told her to check exactly what time the phone call was made. When the Thunderbolt was stolen, the Brigadier told her to have a helicopter standing by for him, along with a mobile HQ and a full forensic team. (TV: The Mind of Evil)
Bell informed the Brigadier of freak weather conditions such as snow and dense fog on the South East coast after a UFO was sighted. (TV: The Claws of Axos)
She seemed to be on good terms with Jo Grant, having a fondness for telling dirty jokes, (PROSE: Where the Heart Is) and Yates often spent evenings with her. (AUDIO: The Screaming Skull)
She was blackmailed by survivors of Inferno Earth into betraying UNIT when they kidnapped her brother and threatened to kill him unless she did as she was told. (PROSE: The Face of the Enemy)
She was in the operations room helping to transcribe some of the signals UNIT were intercepting. (AUDIO: The Mega)
After seeing Ramon Salamander disguised as the Second Doctor, Bell accidentally gave him access to the Third Doctor's laboratory at UNIT HQ. After the Third Doctor and Jo returned, a shocked and confused Bell greeted them. She showed a displeased Third Doctor to his laboratory and left him to argue with his 'former self'. On the Brigadier's last day, having boxed up all his possessions from his office, Bell drove him out of UNIT HQ for the last time and down to Brendon Public School in Hertfordshire. (PROSE: Business Unusual)
Later life[]
Bell left UNIT in 1979 for a business career. (PROSE: Interference - Book Two) In October 1983 Bell attended the UNIT reunion with Lethbridge-Stewart. By 1989, she was married and had one child. (PROSE: Business Unusual)
At some point after leaving UNIT, Bell was in a car accident that left her with brain damage. (PROSE: The Left-Handed Hummingbird)

Behind the scenes[]
- Corporal Bell never used or was referred to by a first name on-screen, but it was revealed to be Carol in The Scales of Injustice. Her full first name is Caroline, as revealed in The Forgotten Son, although she more often went by Carol.
