Callum Volta was a pirate. He was slightly nervous when the Ice Warrior appeared. He reprogrammed his wreckers to pilot the bin which he, Lorna and Rose Tyler were on to take it back to his ship. He was killed by one of the Ice Warriors. Rose attempted to tell his mother Brona Volta that her son had died in a more heroic manner, but on the advice of the Tenth Doctor, Rose conceded to tell her the truth, but noted her son's more minor heroism.
