The Bubble was a social media platform on Finetime, which allowed constant contact with other residents in Finetime or on the Homeworld.

History[]

The Bubble provided an immersive experience, channeling for their user a rotating series of images in rectangles of those who were their subscribers on the network and either a live feed of them or a profile picture with the message "OFFLINE. Users could communicate directly with anyone they were following, in which case their feed image would be accompanied by an indicator at the bottom left displaying their name, age, number of subscribers and possibly a hashtag associated with them or associated hobbies. Those who were considered "Star Accounts" by having more than a certain number of subscribers would also have such displayed at the top right.

However, Dr Pee's profile showed only his name and displayed no age or follower count.

It was also possible for those not in a user's subscribers to contact them. Such an attempt would be identified in bright red capital letters as an unsolicited request, with a green checkmark to accept or red X to refuse. Those who refused such a request could then choose to block the person in question. It was not normally possible for someone who had been blocked to unblock themselves and doing so might have even been criminal activity. It was also possible to initiate a group chat by issuing a "Priority One", but those in such a chat could choose not to hear one or more of the others by muting them.

It was projected by the Dot. (TV: Dot and Bubble [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 14 (BBC One and Disney+, 2024).)
