Brittany Mordley was the niece of Tom Mordley and, after a partial conversion in 2008, was given powers by the Cyberon drug.

Biography[]

Her father died of an aneurysm. (PROSE: The Last Dose [+]James Hornby, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020)., Silver-Tongued Liars [+]James Wylder, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).) Brittany found her father's dead body in the family's living room, with his glassy eyes still focused on the television while the beer that had been holding had fallen to the floor and soaked into the carpet. (PROSE: Silver-Tongued Liars [+]James Wylder, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).)

Brittany's father had a brother, Tom, who had been the "only man who'd given a damn about her and her mother"; even though he was a grad student, Tom had worked extra shifts in order to cover the rent after Brittany's father died. He had been the first person to get Sarah to smile after her mother's death, which Brittany later considered to be a gift by itself. Tom had been excited about Cyberon, a miracle cure, how it could've saved his brother. At the airport, Tom told her that when he would return, he'd move her and her mother somewhere better. (PROSE: Silver-Tongued Liars [+]James Wylder, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).)

However, Tom had been partially taken over by Cyberon in 2000, (PROSE: Cyberon [+]James Hornby, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).) but he later regained his freedom and killed the damaged Cyberon that had been manufacturing the Cyberon drug. However, he died of his injuries, as witnessed by P.R.O.B.E.'s Louise Bayliss. Louise later spoke to Patricia Haggard about what would happen to Tom's body and his family, which consisted of his sister-in-law and his niece. (PROSE: The Last Dose [+]James Hornby, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).) Brittany and her mother attended the funeral of Tom in the United Kingdom, Brittany getting upset over how Tom's body was being treated like "hazardous waste" after being buried in a golden coffin which was sealed in the ground with concrete. Other attendees of the funeral included Patricia, Patricia's partner, another woman, Lauren, her friend, and a dozen armed soldiers. After Cyberon was covered up by discrediting Tom as a con man, (PROSE: The Last Dose [+]James Hornby, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).) Brittany had been bullied about her uncle. These taunts had evolved over the years, any remnant of the truth being forgotten. Once, she had gone red and denied that tom was related to her, actions that would make her feel shameful for years to come. In the 4th grade, Ms. Przybylski had told her that, while the students had been going about it wrong, they may have had "some points worth thinking about", which angered Brittany. At one point, Brittany had suggested getting a job to her Mom but she told Brittany that her education was more important.

In 2008, Brittany found a vial of Cyberon inside a suitcase of clothes that Tom once owned, having been relocated to Sarah and Brittany's apartment after Sarah could no longer afford to keep Tom's old possessions at the storage company that Sarah had been using for years. That night, she dreamt of Tom and Lauren, telling her that Cyberon is the future. The next day, after spending the morning transfixed by the vial of Cyberon, Brittany injected it after being trapped in a toilet stall and told to kill herself by Jennifer, another student. The Cyberon, knowing Brittany couldn't escape, and to ensure it's survival, refabricated her muscle tissue and then burst through the stall door. Brittany banged Jennifer's head against a mirror above the sinks, and the Cyberon attempted to convert Jennifer, but failed due to Brittany's lack of anemia. Brittany and the Cyberon in her fled her school in search for iron-rich nutrients, but outside, Brittany collapsed due the Cyberon underestimating Brittany's resources. Brittany was taken by an ambulance, but the Cyberon took control of her and made her escape, as Brittany wanted to go to a hospital instead. Brittany bought an armful of pre-made meals from Wawa, with one of her new Cyberon abilities allowing her to pay for everything with just a tap of her finger, and Brittany consumed the food, and resolved to jump off a building, as she didn't believe she could return home after what she had done at school — and the presence of the Cyberon gave validity to the lies spread about her uncle.

At the top of a building, Brittany was about to jump when Patricia Haggard arrived, having caught a flight to Philadelphia as soon as P.R.O.B.E. had detected the Cyberon. Patricia convinced Brittany not to jump, despite Brittany's initial anger at her for the lies that had been spread about Tom, angery that the dreams of Cyberon were never fulfilled; Patricia told her that while she had been right to believe in her uncle, now she had taken Cyberon, she should be able to see that Cyberon was not as promised. The Cyberon in her tried to command her not to listen to Patricia, but without further doses of Cyberon, it faded away.

In 2009, Patricia returned to Philadelphia, accompanied by her partner and Giles. They asked her how she was doing at school, how her mother was doing, and if she still had the powers the Cyberon gave her. Brittany still had her powers, as she used the Cyberon injector built into her arm to shoot water instead of Cyberon, and when Brittany and the three P.R.O.B.E. members went into Wawa to buy snacks, Brittany used her powers to purchase everything, unbeknownst to P.R.O.B.E.. (PROSE: Silver-Tongued Liars [+]James Wylder, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).)

By 2019, Brittany had joined the Jovian Diplomacy Service. She became a go-to for a lot of jobs because of the abilities Cyberon gave her body. She encountered PROBE again during "the whole Origin Zero thing", and later in late 2019 when she encountered Maxie Masters in an airport. Psychological profile[]

Brittany was knowledgeable enough, at least regarding the War of 1812, to render most of her classes with Mr. Hendricks useless. However, given her age, she hadn't developed the maturity to see the relationship between Tom and Lauren as anything other than "gross". She often felt defensive of her uncle's actions despite the general consensus of Tom being, at best, a con man, and she felt shame about the time she denied he was related to her. (PROSE: Silver-Tongued Liars [+]James Wylder, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).)

Skills[]

After being modified by the Cyberon drug she took, Brittany was made muscular, being able to push people down with ease and being able to jump over cars. One of her arms was modified to be able to administer Cyberon, but she only ever used it to shoot water. She was also able to place her finger on a card reader, to give it a shock, and the machine would accept this as a valid payment. Appearance[]

Clothing[]

Brittany once wore a tie and a white blouse with cuffed sleeves. She later wore an Eagles hoodie, with the hood over her head, on top. (PROSE: Silver-Tongued Liars [+]James Wylder, Cyberon (Arcbeatle Press, 2020).)
