Brighton Pavilion

The Brighton Pavilion, also called the Royal Pavilion, was a pavilion located in Brighton.

The Pavilion opened in 1851. (AUDIO: Gallery of Ghouls)

Queen Victoria hated staying in the Royal Pavilion as she felt exposed to the public gaze, and therefore decided to sell it to Brighton for £53,000. (AUDIO: Jago in Love)

The Doctor made three attempts to visit the opening of the Brighton Pavilion. The second time, he got the right place but the wrong year. (TV: The Leisure Hive) On the third occasion, the Fourth Doctor and Romana II arrived in Brighton in 1833, too early for its opening. (AUDIO: Gallery of Ghouls)

REF: The Discontinuity Guide speculates that the first attempt resulted in the visit to Fang Rock.

In 1936, the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn Smythe saw the Royal Pavilion during a visit to Brighton, but Evelyn was not very enthusiastic. (AUDIO: Pier Pressure)
