The Battle of Alpha Centauri took place during the Second Dalek War. The engagement saw a large Dalek force driven off by a small squadron of Silurians.
The outcome gave rise to a rumour that one fleet broke off from the main Dalek force and retreated into hyperspace. This remained unconfirmed and entered into wartime legend.
In 2570, the adventurous Captain Mark Diski resolved to track down the lost Dalek fleet. His reputation and influence gained him access to the resources required for such a venture, including three Peggcorp swift response fighters. While exploring one quadrant on the edge of human space, close to the Sontaran sphere of influence, the ships encountered the Hoothi. Captain Diski and his crew were massacred and all three ships were destroyed. (PROSE: Love and War)
