Barbara Campbell was the adopted daughter of David Campbell and his Time Lord wife, Susan Campbell. She was the great-granddaughter of the Doctor.
Biography[]
Orphaned during the Dalek invasion of Earth in the 22nd century, Barbara was adopted by David and Susan after the human victory. She was named after Barbara Wright, an early companion of Susan's grandfather, the First Doctor.
Barbara also had two adopted brothers, Ian Campbell and David Campbell Junior. (PROSE: Legacy of the Daleks [+]John Peel, BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures (BBC Books, 1998).)
On one occasion, while her parents were getting supplies, Barbara met the Seventh Doctor, to whom she briefly spoke, but quickly departed. She never discovered his true identity. (PROSE: A Time & a Place [+]Una McCormack, Brief Encounter (1993).)
Appearance[]
Despite being adopted, Campbell looked very much like her mother. (PROSE: Legacy of the Daleks [+]John Peel, BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures (BBC Books, 1998).) This was true to the point that the Seventh Doctor mistook her for Susan upon meeting her. (PROSE: A Time & a Place [+]Una McCormack, Brief Encounter (1993).)
Behind the scenes[]
The controversial audio story Whatever Happened to Susan Foreman? previously presented Susan as having had a daughter, only after settling on Earth in July 1964.
