Audio navigation is a method of exploring menus on DVDs and Blu-rays, primarily aimed at the visually impaired by use of cursor keys and spoken word prompts. It was introduced in the latter part of the Doctor Who DVD range and continue into the Blu-ray releases. It begins with a prompt before the main menu asking the user to press the enter key to select audio navigation. In addition to allowing non-sighted users to access episodes and features more easily, it also allows the user to directly access the Easter eggs, without having to search for them.

Full audio description for the visually impaired is yet to be introduced to any of the physical media, although it is available on iPlayer.
