An asteroid in hyperspace was inhabited by the Batmen.

History[]

At some point, the prison ship Black Maria 9 was partly destroyed by a meteorite shower and crashed on the asteroid, leaving one survivor. The Batmen looked after him in the caves during the day but returned at night to find that he had apparently transformed into one of them. However, this was not the case as he had used the time to make skin and an oxygen kit to fool the Batmen, eventually becoming their leader. Under his rule, the Batmen ceased to be peaceful and instead became a means for him to continue his gangster work.

In 2065, the Batmen hijacked a space freighter though its crew were able to send out a mayday call which led to Fireball XL5. Upon finding out about the Batmen's involvement, the Fireball crew pursued the space frieghter to the asteroid. (COMIC: The Batmen) On 30 January, Space City held a press conference following its discovery. (PROSE: Stingray Attacked!) Commander Zero later stormed from the conference with an abrupt "No comment" after being asked about Venus' capture. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil) Her capture and the threat of her execution ultimately forced Steve Zodiac to surrender Fireball to the Batmen, as was reported on 13 February. (PROSE: Fireball Surrenders!) Following a test flight of Fireball, the leader of the Batmen exited to the craft but was grabbed by Robert the Robot on Steve's orders, exposing his true identity as a human. (COMIC: The Batmen) Space City officials grew concerned that he may take revenge for this attack (COMIC: Power Play) but this was not to fear as the Batmen took matters into their own hands. Valeen, who emerged as a new leader, asked for the impostor to be taken back to Earth so they could return to their peaceful ways. Steve accepted this proposal after the crew of the space freighter were "de-frozen" from their sleep. They parted on good terms, with Steve asking Valeen to call on the World Space Patrol if they should find anymore people lost in space. (COMIC: The Batmen)
