The Arctic was the region around the Earth's North Pole and opposite Antarctica and the South Pole.

On 21 July 1966, Polly Wright and Ben Jackson were kidnapped by Tobias Harmer and Angela Leamann and taken to an island in the furthest reaches of the Arctic Circle and interrogated for their knowledge of the Doctor. In 1983, a Soviet submarine beneath the North Pole picked up the frozen Skaldak and thawed him out. After being attacked with a cattle prod upon awakening, Skaldak tried to launch a nuclear missile from the submarine, knowing that it would cause retaliation in the form of mutually assured destruction. On 4 May 2010, a GSO geological dig uncovered a Cyber-ship and Cybermen who had crashed in the Arctic ten thousand years before. The Cybermen were reactivated and almost escaped with the help of expedition members converted into Cyberslaves, but were stopped by the Eleventh Doctor. (GAME: Blood of the Cybermen)
