Doctor Andrelina Hastoff was a human scientist who oversaw the rehabilitation of robots at Blueberry House. She identified sentience in robots as being a "severe programming deviancy" caused by a computer virus.

When the Eighth Doctor and Izzy Sinclair visited Blueberry House posing as official observers sent by Professor Bunty Carstairs, Hastoff was only interested in explaining her rehabilitation plan to the Doctor and dismissed Izzy to the hospitality suite. She allowed the Doctor to witness her treatment of Drone K-479 Delta (who called himself Simon), but when that proved to be ineffective she used her new machine the Adjuster, imported from Kallulio Prime, to purge Simon's circuits in order to remove any trace of individuality. The Doctor soon learned that Izzy had found herself trapped with hundreds of vengeful robots in the congregation room and appealed to Hastoff to save her. Hastoff refused and the Doctor later realised that she had hoped the robots would have killed Izzy so that she would have been able to justify purging all their circuits in one go, however, Izzy managed to survive by befriending the robots.

The Doctor opposed Hastoff's methods and as a result she set the Adjuster onto him, but he managed to escape by turning her clone guards Branson and Bronson against each other. Hastoff, riding the Adjuster, gave chase and cornered the Doctor on a balcony. Izzy and her newfound friend Emperor Zero arrived in time to rescue the Doctor, but following a scuffle the Doctor, Zero, Hastoff and the Adjuster all fell over the side of the balcony and into a moat below. The Adjuster and Zero did not survive, and the other robots rose up against Hastoff and took her hostage. Hastoff attempted to use this as an example that her logic had been correct, but the robots showed mercy and did not kill her. She was later taken away to a psychiatric facility while the machines evolved the world into their home. (COMIC: The Autonomy Bug)
