Allies (World War II)
StubTab

The Allies, or Allied Powers, were one of the two major alliances fighting on Earth during World War II, opposing the Axis. (COMIC: The Instruments of War)

One of their key leaders was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Winston Churchill, who conducted his operations from the Cabinet War Rooms in London. At one point during the Blitz, they enlisted the aid of the Daleks, which they believed to be the invention of one of their scientists, Edwin Bracewell. Bracewell also believed the Daleks would help the Allied cause in any way they could until the Germans had been "utterly smashed". (TV: Victory of the Daleks) Through at least Churchill, they were also able to call on the Doctor's help from time to time, (TV: Victory of the Daleks) and vice versa. (COMIC: The Instruments of War) The Doctor's eleventh (TV: Victory of the Daleks) and twelfth incarnations (COMIC: The Instruments of War) were known to have been on friendly terms with the Prime Minister; Churchill had the Doctor's phone number, (TV: The Beast Below) while the Doctor had Churchill's. (COMIC: The Instruments of War)

On 26 May 1940, Operation Dynamo was nearly prevented from occurring by the Nemonites. However, the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble were able to stop them. (AUDIO: The Nemonite Invasion)

In December 1941, both the Allies and Axis were ordered to strike the Sontaran world engine weapon the Warsong from both sides in order to buy time for the Twelfth Doctor and Field Marshal Erwin Rommel to break through the defences of the Warsong. (COMIC: The Instruments of War)

On 6 June 1944, the Allies staged the Normandy landings to invade mainland Europe. (PROSE: The Taint)

On 8 May 1945, the Allies' victory over Germany was marked by VE Day. A major celebration took place in Trafalgar Square in London. (PROSE: Magic of the Angels) The Seventh Doctor and his companions Ace and Hex were present in London for the celebrations. (AUDIO: Casualties of War)
