Alaska, also known as "The Land of the Midnight Sun", was a state of the United States of America.
Film director Leonard De Sande filmed The Cold Blooded in Alaska in 1944. There he discovered the Selyoids trapped in ice inside a cave. (PROSE: Dying in the Sun)
When the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa visited Alaska in 1994, they both found its pristine ice fields "beautiful". The Doctor called it the "stepping stone between America and Asia", noting that it was sparsely populated because it wasn't "the most hospitable of environments", despite being rich in natural resources like oil. He went on to say that humans not native to the state were really only interested in Alaska for "commercial or strategic" reasons, but that natives had successfully lived off the land for thousands of years. He also claimed that the name derived from Alyeska, the Aleut word for "great land". (AUDIO: The Land of the Dead)
Despite this, the Seventh Doctor claimed that he had never been to Alaska. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible) He, Ace and Hex did visit Alaska in 1934 and defeated the Karnas'koi, a group of Elder Gods. (AUDIO: Lurkers at Sunlight's Edge)
In 2018, Ramón Salamander drank specially-made wine from Alaska. (TV: The Enemy of the World)
In the 51st century Alaska was part of, or allied to, the Supreme Alliance. They set up neutron blockades on the frozen Arctic when war loomed between the Supreme Alliance and the Icelandic Alliance. (AUDIO: The Butcher of Brisbane)
