Alan Yentob, CBE (11 March 1947[1]-24 May 2025[2]) was Controller of BBC One from 1992 to 1996. He was also Controller of BBC Two from 1987 to 1993. He commissioned the 1996 television movie for BBC One — as well as The Dark Dimension, a thirtieth anniversary project that was eventually scrapped with minor ideas brought into Dimensions in Time.
He was interviewed on the documentaries 30 Years in the TARDIS, its extended edition More Than 30 Years in the TARDIS and The Seven Year Hitch. In the former, he appeared in a post-credits interview being evasive when asked about the possibility of an imminent revival of Doctor Who, possibly due to early discussions regarding what would become the 1996 TV movie being under way at the time.
In the DWU[]
He is mentioned as being one of the guests at a party in the novel The Dying Days.
