Alan Wareing directed three Doctor Who television stories, all featuring the Seventh Doctor: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, Ghost Light and Survival. Having directed both the last-aired and last-produced stories, he has an unassailable claim to being "the last director of the original run of Doctor Who".
Prior to his involvement with the Sylvester McCoy era, he was a production assistant on the penultimate Tom Baker story, The Keeper of Traken and the production manager on Timelash.
Outside of Doctor Who, he worked on the soap operas Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
