Akhaten was a planet orbited by a number of asteroid rings. The natives of its orbiting stars believed that all life forms in the universe originated there. Every thousand years the natives of Akhaten celebrated the Festival of Offerings, where they used to sacrifice the Queen of Years to the Mummy who served the Old God. The Eleventh Doctor once took Clara Oswin Oswald there, in response to her request for him to take her to "somewhere awesome". (TV: The Rings of Akhaten) He also took his grangdaughter there once in his first incarnation.
