A Charitable Earth headquarters, an elegant tower of glass and steel, was the headquarters of A Charitable Earth.

Dorothy had been adamant that the building was commisioned overlooking the Tower of London, so that she could have a clear view of the private roadway into UNIT's headquarters and track the number of vehicles passing through, so that she could know if anything alien was happening.

On the 18th floor, there was a penthouse in which Dorothy McShane lived in. It had polished wooden floors and air conditioning throughout. Dorothy's bedroom had a carpet and was located away from the rest of the apartment up a flght of stairs. Her old jacket hung on a coatstand opposite her bed, next to a wardrobe which contained a leather jacket. The main room had floor-to-ceiling windows, which on a clear day provided a view up to the Chilterns, and was connected to a well-equipped open-plan kitchen with a television on the wall, and a breakfast bar with stools. The main sitting room, leading off from the kitchen, had a large glass-topped coffee table that filled most of the room, and a sofa. The penthouse had a door, which Dorothy kept locked at night, that lead to the company office, where Sanaul often sat at the desk.

There was a lift connecting all floors. In the basement, there was a garage, containing two Honda Fireblade motorcycles and the Hypergreen parked next to them. It had banks of LEDs in the walls which lit up when they detected motion. (PROSE: At Childhood's End)

Behind the scenes[]

  • In the real world, the view from the window of A Charitable Earth HQ would place the building in the same location as the More London development.

Location information

Though it's possible that a real world location doesn't exist in the same geographic space in the Doctor Who universe, such cases are few and far between. Thus, the map at right is probably a good indicator of the DWU location of A Charitable Earth headquarters.

Footnotes[]

  1. London Map RotS

The location of City and Southwark on Mr Smith's map. (TV: Revenge of the Slitheen)

The map in The Lie of the Land places the Tower of London east of the City of London and opposite Southwark Crown Court. When viewed in conjunction with both the map of London boroughs seen in Revenge of the Slitheen and the view from the window in The Promise, this would definitively place A Charitable Earth HQ in Southwark, somewhere around Tooley Street.
