8 May was a date.

Holidays and observances

After the end of World War II, 8 May was noted by humans as VE Day. (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary)

Events

In 1945, it was the day of the Allies' victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. On that day, a major celebration took place in Trafalgar Square in London, a major feature of which was a victory speech by Winston Churchill. (PROSE: Magic of the Angels, Time Traveller's Diary)

The Seventh Doctor, and his companions Ace and Hex, were present in London for the celebrations. (AUDIO: Casualties of War) The same day, Churchill also authorised "Operation Blue Box", a secret initiative which, amongst other things, gave a permanent order that the Doctor "be given full security clearance for any post-war operations". (COMIC: The Broken Man) The Eighth Doctor later claimed to have been present during VE Day. (AUDIO: Living Legend).

In 1984, the Soviet Union withdrew from the Olympic Games of that year. (AUDIO: The Reaping)

In 2593, Bernice Summerfield and Wolsey, her cat, left the Eighth Doctor to go to their new home, the Garland College Hall of Residence. (PROSE: The Dying Days)
