In the 78th century, the Third Great and Bountiful Human Empire was active.
Toward the start of the century, the empire had, in the opinion of one of its citizens, "gone utterly mad", with war, famine, and deadly plagues in abundance. Recombinant yersinia pestis, for instance, was a fatal disease, curable with a powerful antibiotic, but dangerous enough that planet-sized quarantines were used to contain it.
On 19 April 7711, Chief Administrator Aethelred of the theme park planet Caligaris Epsilon Six had the planet placed under quarantine for recombinant yersinia pestis. (COMIC: A Fairytale Life)
