January - June
On 20 January, Captain Jack Harkness and Toshiko Sato met the real Captain Jack Harkness at the Kiss the Boys Goodbye Dance at the Ritz in Cardiff. Tosh sent a message to Torchwood Three in the 21st century containing her half of the Rift Manipulator formula to bring her and Jack back. (TV: Captain Jack Harkness)
Thomas Erasmus Flanagan was forgotten at a train station. (TV: Ghost Machine) From 1 March to 6 March, Professor Bernice Summerfield, stranded on Nazi-occupied Guernsey, uncovered a secret German weapon based on technology from the future. (AUDIO: Just War)
On 7 June, Clyde Langer and George Woods evaded a group of Nazis after taking a piece of Chronosteel from them. Shortly afterward, Clyde returned to Ealing on 23 November 2010. George was inspired by Clyde to join the British Army. (TV: Lost in Time)
July - December
On 22 August, Jack Harkness returned to the Hub to find the personnel of Torchwood Three incapacitated by Tilda Brennan, shot dead when the Light gave up possession of her body. The Light used the diary of Gideon Tarry to take the body of Greg Bishop. (PROSE: The Twilight Streets)
On 2 November, the Torajenn and Susini attempted to use of Day of the Dead celebrations in Coyoacan to harvest human body parts. The Torajenn used their bio-nuclear force fields to assume the appearance of dead loved ones and get close enough to humans to strip their flesh and steal their skeletons. The Eighth Doctor and Izzy Sinclair arrived in Coyoacan and were separated. While Izzy helped Frida Kahlo protect a large celebration in the town's cemetery from the Torajenn, the Doctor met Diego Rivera and killed the Torajenn and Susini.
In December, the United States of America became involved in the war when Japanese forces bombed Pearl Harbor. Two days later, Terrence Moody was shot down during the Battle of the Philippines. (PROSE: Happily Ever After Is a High-Risk Strategy)
On 24 December, Madge Arwell and her children Cyril and Lily met the Doctor. Cyril found a Christmassy land with naturally growing Christmas trees. Lily and the Doctor followed him. Madge later followed as well. (TV: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe)
Winter arrived in Russia in December, bringing the German advance to a halt not far from Moscow. The Red Army counterattack pushed the Wehrmacht back, turning Germany's war into a defensive one for the first time. Germany was forced to abandon the Blitz as well as any plans of invading Britain. The possibility that Germany may lose the war began to be considered in Berlin. (PROSE: Just War)
The Ninth Doctor traced a Chula ambulance to London, thinking it a warship. He found a boy called Jamie, who had been partially resurrected by nanogenes. Jamie pursued the Doctor, Rose Tyler and Jack Harkness after Jack set off emergency protocols, releasing an army of people made to be just like Jamie searching for his mother. Nancy told Jamie that she was his mother, not his sister, after lying to him all his life. The nanogenes repaired Jamie and returned all the infected to normal. Jack began travelling in the TARDIS after the Doctor and Rose saved his life. (TV: The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances) Shortly afterwards, the Chula ambulance and Jamie's gas mask were found and stored at the Leamington Spa Lifeboat Museum. (GAME: Security Bot)
The Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond were summoned to the Cabinet War Rooms in London by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The Doctor discovered Daleks working for Churchill. Increasingly frustrated by their charade as "soldiers", he shouted his name at them. This testimony unwittingly activated the Progenitor, awakening the New Dalek Paradigm, who killed the older Daleks. The new Daleks distracted the Doctor by arming their robot Bracewell with a bomb that would destroy the Earth. The Doctor saved the Earth, but the Daleks escaped.
