WikipediaInfo

1915 was a year. It was the second year of the First World War. (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac)

Events

Dated

On 7 May, the RMS Lusitania was torpedoed by the U-20, an act that helped provoke the United States of America into entering World War I two years later. One of the people killed onboard was a petty criminal named Eric Charles Vincent. (AUDIO: The Sirens of Time)

In August, the Seventh Doctor, Ace and Bernice Summerfield arrived in Haiti. (PROSE: White Darkness)

On 4 October, Project: Twilight ended in disaster when 57 vampires escaped the Forge Alpha Facility. (PROSE: Project: Valhalla)

Undated

The First World War continued. Italy, which held back from the war for a year whilst bound by treaty to Germany, ultimately sided with the Anglo-French alliance against Germany in 1915. (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac)

Professor Edward Travers began searching for the Yeti. (TV: The Abominable Snowmen)

A young woman was abducted by the Sisters of St Matilda. (AUDIO: The Cloisters of Terror)

Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition failed when his ship the Endurance was trapped in the ice of Antarctica. At the same time, the Skith ship Oppressor One was on an expedition to Earth, where the Skith scientists cultivated and experimented on specimens in Antarctica. Upon realising that other alien expeditions had already beaten them to Earth, the Skith declared their expedition a failure, and decided to freeze Earth. The Tenth Doctor, assisted by Shackleton, stopped the Skith by sending the Oppressor One into the sun. Shackleton and his crew abandoned the Endurance and left Antarctica for Paulet Island. (COMIC: The First)

Alternate timelines

In John Smith's possible future, he married Joan Redfern this year. (PROSE: Human Nature)

In another alternate timeline, the Lusitania did not sink on 7 May due to the Fifth Doctor's intervention. Eric Charles Vincent, having survived, went on to kill Alexander Fleming in a botched robbery attempt in December 1927 before the biologist discovered penicillin. Without the protection offered by penicillin, Earth fell prey to new strains of meningitis and pneumonia in 1956. The survivors never developed a space programme. Consequently, the Knights of Velyshaa were not defeated by the Earth Alliance in 3562 as they otherwise would have been. (AUDIO: The Sirens of Time)

Births and deaths

Charles Cromwell was born. (PROSE: Trace Memory)

Henry Goddard was born. (AUDIO: Submission)

Wilfred Hollins was killed in the First World War. (AUDIO: Nightshade)
