1780 was the year that Sabbath turned forty and left the employ of the British secret service.

In June, Lord James Gordon led a group of followers into the British House of Commons and held the leading politicians of the country hostage. For a week, the so-called Gordon Riots tore through London. Entire neighbourhoods were burnt down and every prison was razed. Innocent bystanders were hacked to bits and criminals ran rampant. Scarlette was present when Newgate Prison was burnt to the ground on the 6th of June. (PROSE: The Adventuress of Henrietta Street)
