Although she had forgotten the events of her adventure with the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble in 1926, a subconscious memory of those events inspired her to write this book, which was destined to remain in print to the year 5,000,000,000. In 1942, the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams arrived on a sabotaged submarine deep in the North Sea. Gein had sabotaged the ship in order to reach his spaceship, a Class III Bandragian freighter. Instead, the Doctor offered him a lift there in his TARDIS. (COMIC: Sub-species)

Genesis III, a supercomputer tasked with finding new places for humanity to colonise, used a Composition Adjustment Teleport to miniaturise scientists and other humans. It created a world for these people that was the size of an atom. However, the Doctor told him the story of Puss in Boots, confusing the computer and rendering it harmless.
