I really gotta to say the Doctor is physically superior to normal humans.
The Doctor has survived electric shocks, which can stun or even kill attackers.

I love when the Brigadier shoots Missy, who is the Master, before the Doctor could execute Missy. Brigadier did that to save the Doctor from becoming like the Master.
The Doctor fulfilled a lifelong wish of the Brigadier by saluting him, noting that the Brigadier would never be anywhere else but by his side when Earth.
The Brigadier's two wish came true, which was the salute from the Doctor, and to meet the Doctor one last time.
After bidding farewell to the Doctor, he likely chose to return to resting in peace.
